Higher Education & Leadership Ministries (HELM) is pleased to announce the promotion of Rev. Lee Yates to Vice President of Scholarships and Programs, effective immediately. In this expanded role, Rev. Yates will oversee HELM’s scholarship initiatives, leadership development programs, and relationships with campus ministries, furthering the organization’s mission to equip and inspire leaders in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Rev. Yates has served HELM most recently as Director of Scholarships and Leadership Development. Under his leadership, HELM has increased scholarship accessibility, broadened outreach to underrepresented students, and strengthened connections between congregations, higher education institutions, and emerging leaders.
“Lee brings a rare combination of deep faith, innovative vision, and a genuine heart for students,” said Dr. Tamara Nichols Rodenberg, President of HELM. “His work has transformed our programs into vibrant, life-changing experiences, and his leadership will continue to shape the next generation of Disciples leaders.”
Rev. Yates expressed his excitement for the new role: “It is a privilege to walk alongside students and emerging leaders as they discern God’s call in their lives. I’m honored to serve in this new capacity and to continue building pathways for growth, equity, and faithful leadership in the church and beyond.”
In his new position, Rev. Yates will focus on expanding HELM’s scholarship portfolio, developing new program initiatives, and fostering collaborative models in leadership development. His promotion reflects HELM’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leaders who are prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
