The following scholarships are available to undergraduate students through HELM:

Higher Education and Leadership Ministries Leadership Fellows Program and Scholarship recognizes undergraduate students with potential for leadership in the church. Funded by donations to HELM’s scholarship fund, this program involves students at both Disciples colleges and other institutions. The Leadership Fellows Program includes connections with a mentor, annual leadership development retreats, and a global awareness experience. Students entering a four-year college from high school or community college are eligible for this $2,000 scholarship, which can be renewed up to four years. This program also covers the cost of the leadership retreat and global awareness trip.

First Christian Church of Burnet Texas Scholarship recognizes students actively engaged in their local congregation and who hold positions of leadership in the local, regional, and/or general church or campus ministry organizations. Particular preference is given to students who demonstrate both academic potential and financial need. Award amounts vary based on student demonstrated need.

Hyde Park Christian Church - Alvin and Elsie East Scholarship recognizes students actively engaged in their local congregation and pursuing a college degree. Students must demonstrate church and civic activities manifesting a faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, including membership and active participation in a local church. Financial need must be clarified - it is not necessary to show dire financial need, but applicants should account for their financial need and show evidence of frugality in money management. Applicant shows a sense of responsibility in academic progress and will be able to achieve stated educational goals. The Applicant's academic record should be one which indicates potential success in college. Applications not available online at this time - please contact Hyde Park Christian Church.

The HELM Tougaloo College Scholarship Fund exists to benefit members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) who are full-time students at Tougaloo College. The Fund was established as the Tougaloo College Scholarship Fund representing a commitment of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to the development of African American Disciples leaders in Mississippi as was embodied by the Southern Christian Institute prior to its merger with Tougaloo. The endowment is owned and held by HELM on behalf of the church and in recognition of the church’s ongoing commitment to that stated purpose. Students are invited to apply for scholarships of up to $2,000 per semester of full-time enrollment at Tougaloo College.

The Ralph N. Hooks Scholarship is available to Members of Texas Disciples of Christ churches who are attending or planning to attend either McMurry University (Abilene TX) or Texas Christian University. Applications can be found on the website of First Christian Church Abilene TX.

The Christian Ministries Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for those persons living in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America (CCMA) Region who are preparing for Christian Ministries, both in seminary and undergraduate education

A $2,000 scholarship is available to all Chapman University students affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or United Church of Christ. Students who are related to an ordained clergy member, have demonstrated considerable regional youth leadership, or have completed the Youth Leadership Symposium are eligible to receive half off of their tuition.

Upon recommendation of Admission and the Scholarship Committee, two Bethany College students who are active members of the Disciple of Christ Church will receive a full tuition scholarship award. Students should provide confirmation of their membership by submitting a letter to the Office of Financial Aid from their pastor or youth pastor before July 1. Recipients will serve as Presidential Student Ambassadors for each of the four years they receive this award.

Texas Christian University offers a wide variety of scholarships and grants specifically for Disciples of Christ students, with over $1.5 million in church-related aid awarded annually. These opportunities support students preparing for ministry, those with family ties to church leadership, and active participants in Disciples youth programs.

All full-time Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) students at Barton College enrolling in the fall will receive an automatic $3,500 DOC Scholarship! Barton also offers a wide variety of scholarship opportunities, including merit-based scholarships rewarding academic performance and need-based scholarships as well as numerous endowed scholarships for DOC students.

Columbia College offers a Disciples of Christ (DOC) award to students, which is $1000 per academic year. Other scholarships (up to full tuition) are available to all students regardless of denomination.

At Culver Stockton College renewable 50% tuition scholarship (12-18 credit hours) is available for incoming, full-time, degree-seeking students who are members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or their ecumenical partner the United Church of Christ. Students are guaranteed a minimum 50% off tuition cost. The final award may vary as it considers all institutional aid (merit, talent, etc.) awarded to meet the minimum discounted amount to the student.

All scholarships at Jarvis Christian College are granted on the basis of need, character and/or academic record. Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis to those students who meet the established donor or College criteria. Newly admitted students at Transylvania University who indicate a DOC affiliation on their application for admission and provide verification of membership in a DOC congregation will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship per year ($12,000 over four years). The DOC scholarship is renewable annually provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

Through The National Benevolent Association’s Young Adult Leadership Development program area, they seek to co-create spaces with and for young adults 18-30 to flourish in life and service. NBA’s Young Adult Leadership Development grants are specifically designed to support current and future leaders in identifying their leadership qualities, building leadership capacity, and allowing young adults to explore new possibilities in the areas of service and justice.

The Pacific Southwest Region offers a scholarship for students active in their region. The purpose of the Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship is to offer financial assistance to college students (including 4-year or community college) or students in vocational/trade schools who are committed to ministry in: (1) inner city (urban) settings and/or (2) social action through peace and justice. The application deadline is December 31.
