The cry of my soul?
Caroline Hamilton A graduate-level class on the writings of Greek writer and philosopher Nikos Kazantzakis was both intriguing and daunting to Caroline Hamilton. She hadn't yet read his work, but the professors and the structure of the class appealed to her. Little did she know what an impact the class would have. Kazantzakis' work has turned Caroline's thoughts inward, focusing on the true cries of her soul.

Busy work? No, good work.
Charisse Knorr Even by the standards of busy college students, Charisse Knorr is really busy. Between studies, work, shadowing mentors, cheerleading, her sorority, a new puppy, trying to graduate a year early, and a steadfast commitment to church, she's always on the go. It could be a recipe for burnout, but Charisse feels the busyness feeds her soul. She's also learning a lot about herself and her future.

HELM Leadership Fellows conference focuses on creativity in vocation, in faith, and in life
2009 HELM Leadership FellowsSo many situations in the church call for creativity. How do you create a vital community? How do you revitalize a congregation? How do you create a community of young adults? How can you do ministry in a new way? How can you provide a seemingly impossible-to-create ministry to reach the seemingly impossible-to-reach community? Creativity — in our work, in our faith, and in everyday life — was at the center of the HELM Leadership Fellows conference, held November 6-8 in Dallas.

Calling all seminarians!
Federal laws protecting student privacy make it tougher each year to identify Disciples seminarians. While many schools agree to pass along information to their students about Disciples programs, many seminarians will slip through the cracks. If you're a Disciples M.Div. student, sign up for the Seminarians list serv. If you know a Disciples seminarian, make sure that student knows about HELM's Seminarians list serv. It's the easiest way to find out about the Seminarians Conference, the Ministerial Grant program, and other opportunities.
