Looking forward

Charisse Knorr This is going to be my senior year. Exciting right? Well… yes, but like any student about to finish and head off into the "real world," I have some serious... I guess you could call them "hesitations." Next year I will be finishing my degree in Business Administration. That sounds to me like a pretty big title for doing something that I love. I am not sure what I am going to do with that, so I'm still exploring my options.

I feel this year is going to be a turning point. I have been comfortable in being a student, just focusing on the day-to-day school stuff. Now, however, I have to start looking forward, and that includes my relationships with my church families. My church in Missouri was the first church experience I ever had, and they taught me a lot. I then moved to California to go to school and became a part of the First Christian Church of Orange. What a fantastic and new experience this has been. I learned new traditions, new ways of thinking, and met many new and wonderful people.

I also was a part of the general church family. Even though large and spread out, we do have a church family across the nation. Everyone who calls themselves a Disciple of Christ is part of my family. I was able to experience this through my actions as a youth in Transy 'n' T.E.A.M., on the General Youth Council, and now in college as a HELM Leadership Fellow. Again it seems that there are big names just for doing something that I love.

I am now struggling with the next step. It's not only thinking about what my future career will be, but who is going to be my next family? Will I stay in Orange, will I go back to Missouri, or will I find a new home all together? I know that no matter what I choose, God's hand will be guiding me. I know that God always has my best interest in his plan even if it feels like a "growing pain." Maybe it will include another thing I love to do with a big name.

I love learning, I love growing, I love God, and I even love change. I am ready, no matter how scary this next year will be. With the help of all my families and the communication and connection I have with our Savior I will be able to stand strong and do work that pleases God.
