What's your personality?

Felicia Wright Have you ever taken a personality test? Have you ever questioned the results? Personality Test can tell a lot about an individual. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality questionnaire designed to identify certain psychological differences according to the typological theories of Carl Gustav Jung. According to Myers Briggs Type Indicator my type is ISFJ (introvert, sensing, feeling, and judging). ISFJs are interested in maintaining order and harmony in every aspect of their lives. They are steadfast and meticulous in handling their responsibilities. Although quiet, they are people-oriented and very observant. Not only do they remember details about others, but they observe and respect others' feelings. Friends and family are likely to describe them as thoughtful and trustworthy. I decided to share my personal experiences about my sensing and judging types.

Sensing is described as a way of gathering information. Those who are sensing use their five senses to gather information, learning best in a line by line sequence and readily learn and remember facts and details. This is very true about me based on my experience with studying. When studying, to gather information I have to see it and hear it. I usually make flash cards so I can see an example and say what's on the card aloud so I can hear it. This method works out well for me and I get great results. I am convinced that this method works, because when I don't use my senses to study, the results are less than great.

Others would say that sensing also fits me. Often, it is said that I am a very observant person and pay attention to what I see. For example, my roommate and I watch music videos all the time. When watching the videos I am able to pick up dance moves and she would wonder "How did you do that?" I would tell her and simply show her the latest moves. Also, my roommate and I listen to a lot of music and it is hard for her to remember the words to the songs; where as for me it is quite simple. I even earned the nickname "Radio" because I can emit all the words, to almost every song just like a radio!

Judging is my approach or how I handle life. I enjoy decision- making, planning, organizing, scheduling, and seeking closure to issues. Yet with all of this in mind, I may have the tendency to decide too soon. Personally, I have noticed that I must have closure to all the problems in my life. It is my opinion that when one does not seek closure, they leave the "door of conflict" open for more issues to arise. If I were to get in an argument with a close friend about something serious, I would want to bring the problem to an end by talking. We will begin by talking then that will eventually lead to how we can resolve the issue- solve the problem while it's still fresh and stick to it. I believe when one leaves situations open, it causes confusion; I may think one thing and my friends may think another. To avoid these situations it is best to use closure.

I have a few close friends that I enjoy being with. However, they know with anything I do, there must be a plan. My close friends know that when they invite me to go out, how important it is for me to know what we are going to do, how we will get there, what we are going to do when we get there, and a handful of other specifics. I feel that this characteristic is just another part of my organizing and planning abilities. I am a firm believer that if you plan and organize well, then one will run into less problems along the way.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the results were closely aligned with the way I actually interact. I now truly believe that one CAN confirm ones personality through this type of testing. Try it, and you too, will be amazed at your findings!
