HELM @ General Assembly

Welcome to the Great Disciples Leadership Quiz. If you missed the quiz during the Portland General Assembly, you don't need a note from your parent to get permission to take it another time. The 25 questions are below. At the end is a link to the answers.

First, the rules:

  • There are five rounds of five questions each.
  • Each table is a team and each team will work together to find one answer to each question.
  • Each person has scrap paper to write tentative answers to show to your team so that your neighbors don't overhear.
  • Our quizmasters will read each question twice, and then teams will have thirty seconds to agree on an answer and write it on the appropriate answer sheet.
  • At the end of each round — that is, after the second reading of the fifth question — you will have one minute to complete your answers to all the questions. Then our tellers will come to your tables to collect the answer sheets. Hold the answer sheets in the air so they can find you.
  • After five rounds the tellers will tote up the scores. The tables with the three highest scores will receive some swell prizes — contestant in Portland received "HELM:The Home Game," also known as our fashionable blue pens available at www.helmdisciples.org/orders — but we will all enjoy a fascinating hour exploring the world of Disciples leaders.
  • You may wonder, what will we do in the case of ties? Well, on answer sheet number one there is a box to write the number of questions out of 25 your team thinks it will be able to answer. Make sure you write that number down before the first round begins. If that doesn't work it'll be paper-rock-scissors.
  • Now, the disclaimers:
    1. Questions and answers have been reasonably well researched, but, nevertheless, decisions of the judges are final.
    2. HELM employees, their immediate families, the quizmasters and tellers, are not eligible to participate.
    3. As always, no wagering!
