Former president WIlliam L. "Bill" Miller, Jr., passes away

Bill MillerWilliam L. Miller, Jr., retired regional minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Upper Midwest, died Feb. 11 at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Mo.

Miller served pastorates in Oklahoma and Arkansas and in 1962 began a 15-year tenure with the Board of Higher Education, including nine years as its president, and was instrumental in the creation of the Division of Higher Education in 1977. He also served the National City Christian Church Corp. as its Vice President for Development from 1977 to 1982, before leading the Upper Midwest Region for a decade.

A memorial service will be held at Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo., on March 10. Memorial gifts may be directed to the William L. Miller, Jr., Scholarship Fund at Lexington Theological Seminary or to research on Alzheimer's disease.
