Five students from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) were named FTE Undergraduate Fellows, a program providing support and guidance to undergraduate students who wish to consider ministry as a possible career and who embody the intellectual and spiritual qualities essential for Christian leadership as pastors, educators, and citizens.

Disciples FTE Undergraduate Fellows are:

  • David Bielik, Milligan College
  • Adam Frieberg, Texas Christian University
  • Jonathan Hall, Transylvania University, a member of the Student Ecumenical Partnership Leadership Team and a Phillips University Legacy Scholar;
  • Michelle Harvick, Texas Christian University, a DHE Leadership Fellow; and
  • Ryan Singleton, Ohio State University.
DHE Web Site Now Features Section in Korean
In an effort to better serve Korean-speaking and bilingual members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a portion of the Division of Higher Education web site is now available in Korean.

The new portion of the web site, online at www.dhedisciples.org/korean, includes information on scholarships, colleges and universities, theological institutions, campus ministries, DHE’s ministries, ordination, and a brief overview of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The Korean web site has been under development for almost two years. Dr. Tim S. Lee, Director of Asian Studies Program and Assistant Professor of History of Christianity at Brite Divinity School, translated the site into Korean. Lee is also a member of the DHE Board of Directors. Kim Young Sook, a former student of the Disciples Seminary Foundation, also helped in the translation. DHE Communications Director Brad Lyons created the web site’s graphics and design.

“We want to try to provide all Disciples with information about our ministries,” said DHE President Dennis Landon. “ Earlier we were able to translate a similar section of our web site into Spanish, and we’re pleased now to add a Korean translation as a service to Korean-speaking Disciples.”

Pacific/Asian ministries are among the fastest growing groups within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In the past ten years, the ministry of North American Pacific Asian Disciples has grown from eight Asian churches to 80 churches today. Many, though not all, of these congregations are Korean-speaking.

The DHE Board of Directors bestowed the award to Easterling at its board meeting April 30-May 2 in St. Louis, Mo. Easterling will receive $1,000 to be used for expanding his library, developing new courses, or continuing education and research.
