Jarvis Christian College, a private, four-year coeducational and historically black institution, has maintained a tradition of high academic expectations and achievements in an environment that guarantees personalized education for all its students.

Established as a Christian institution, Jarvis has remained strongly committed to its heritage since its founding in 1912 by the Black Disciples of Christ in Texas and the Christian Women's Board of Missions. The college offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems degrees with majors in over 15 different disciplines. Dual degree programs are available in Nursing, Mass Communications and Engineering. Jarvis' Department of Education offers a Texas Teacher Certification in over 10 areas of study. Student athletes compete in five intercollegiate sports for men and women.

The college's campus is nestled in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas, approximately 100 miles east of Dallas, Texas, and 100 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana.

A very popular program at Jarvis is the Advanced Summer Enrichment Program (ASEP) for first-time freshmen. This six-week summer program offers new students the opportunity to live on campus and adjust to college life while earning 3 hours in Math and 3 hours in English. Students in the ASEP program build good study skills, participate in cultural and recreational activities, develop leadership skills and truly gain a "jump" on college work and life.

Jarvis Christian College has one of the most comprehensive programs of financial aid assistance available. Most financial assistance is based upon need, and every attempt is made to see that no admissible student eliminates Jarvis Christian College for financial reasons.
