Undergraduate Scholarships

The Higher Education and Leadership Ministries Leadership Fellows Program recognizes undergraduate students with potential for leadership in the church. Funded by donations to HELM's scholarship fund, this program has involved more than 60 students from both Disciples colleges and other institutions since it began in 2001. If you will be entering a four-year college in the fall of 2009, your may be eligible for this $2,000 scholarship, which can be renewed up to four years.

Many Disciples colleges and universities provide discounts to Disciples students. Ask the Financial Aid Department at the institution of your choice about the potential savings. Take the first step with a directory of Disciples Financial Aid web pages.

The Phillips University Legacy Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program is available to a high school senior or an undergraduate first-, second-, or third-year student and must attend one of the seventeen colleges/universities affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).Information on this scholarships is available at www.phillips.edu or call (580) 237-4433.

The ecumenical Fund for Theological Education provides support and guidance to undergraduate students who wish to consider ministry as a possible career and who embody the intellectual and spiritual qualities essential for Christian leadership as pastors, educators, and citizens. Rising juniors and seniors can apply for the Undergraduate Fellows Program.

Get creative! This March 2004 article from CNN Money details some of the basics on finding scholarships — web sites such as FastWeb or Collegeboard.com — but also some of the odder scholarships available. Do you speak Klingon? Is your last name Zolp? Where did your grandmother go to college? All of this could help you get the extra cash to pay for your education.

  1. Don't panic over the $.
  2. Fill out your FAFSA.
  3. Get your best package.
